A blazer and its matching trousers, cut from the same cloth so the two read as one thing. Worn as a suit for the occasions that ask for one, and split apart for everything else.

WHAT MAKES IT WORK

• Notched lapel, single button: The most forgiving front there is — it breaks the jacket up lengthways and draws the eye down rather than across.
• Shaped waist: The jacket comes in at the waist instead of hanging straight, which is what stops a blazer reading boxy.
• Gold-tone buttons: At the front and at the cuffs, where they catch the light when you move your hands.
• Flap pockets: Flap detailing at the hip. The maker does not confirm whether they open, so we are not claiming they do.
• Slim, ankle-length trousers: Cut to finish at the ankle, which is where a slim trouser stops cutting the leg short.
